1, 2, 3... of my Four-legged career

From what began as a child's dream, how it took shape and how it's growing.

Tales of a Dog Lover: Finding My Calling

Like many others, my fascination with dogs lasted longer than most. I'm often asked, "How did you get into this dog business anyway?" and my mind whisks me back to a photo from around two decades ago. I'm around 6 or 7, beaming with a stranger and his dog. The stranger might have been well, a stranger, but his dog was like an old friend, another chapter in my lifelong connection with canines.

Another tale I often share harks back to my 6th-grade days. I'd walk home from school, stopping at a cow-den filled with dogs and other critters. I'd feed them scraps from my lunchbox, often losing track of time. One day, my mom found me there well after sunset, her mix of relief and frustration was apparent. I'd lost hours, engrossed in doggie heaven. I suppose my love for dogs makes me lose track of time (and responsibilities)!

Teenage Dreams and Distractions

At 14, the dream of becoming a dog trainer burned brightly, but adolescence and life's distractions made it seem dimmer. I managed myself through a Business Management degree, not exactly acing it, as my mind wandered far from thoughts of a career or future.

Then came the unexpected detour—an opportunity at my uncle's production factory, playing the part of his business successor. He did his best to bestow upon me, his knowledge and wisdom of 28 years in business. Three years into this unexpected venture taught me about manufacturing, business, and strangely, my own worth.

But something was missing. The path felt too predictable, lacking the thrill I craved.

Chasing the Passion

To check off a bucket list item, I signed up for a 5-day 'Dog Trainer's Course' in Bangalore. Those days reignited my love for observing canine behavior in its natural state. I'd spend hours, just observing dog interactions, a throwback to my childhood aspirations.

From Passion to Profession

After eight years of rescuing animals, I found myself volunteering at a respected veterinary clinic under Dr. Vinay Gorhe in Pune. Juggling a 9-to-5 manufacturing job and late-night volunteering, I was fueled by an unwavering love for these fascinating creatures. A turning point arrived when I chose to bid farewell to manufacturing and dive headfirst into the canine world, without any plan of action let alone any idea about the future.

A Journey of Discovery

Months at the clinic had me diving into every department, absorbing knowledge at every turn. Yet, grooming remained uncharted territory until Dr. Gorhe suggested a 'Dog Grooming and Styling' course in Mumbai. It meant leaving behind the fulfilling work I cherished for a while.

Crafting a Tail-Wagging Future

Returning from the intensive course, armed with new insights, I completed 'Dog Grooming and Styling Course' from Petsburgh Grooming School. On July 18th, 2017, "Beauty in the Beast," my own haven for dog grooming and styling, became a reality. And since then, each day in this profession has been a joyful journey turning childhood passion into a fulfilling career.
